new, old and Bingo cards

I have been playing with some of my new Stash today but I've also been digging through my old scraps and using up those too. And the bingo cards in the title? I found these in my local shop in a whole range of different colours- I bought three different packs- pink, blue and brown (vintage) the problem is there are 500 per pack- I think I may have too many- I think you may be bored of seeing them on my LOs in a few days!

So what you see below is old and new and a brown bingo card and below that mostly old and a pink bingo card.

This first Lo is for Sketchabilities- Its a LO of me with my Uncle Trevor- probably in about 1977- you should click on the Lo to fully appreciate his outfit and hair- the flares are enormous- he appears to be wearing a cheesecloth kaftan- oh by the way we were collecting reeds for my Mum to use in the Church flower display. 230/365
this is the sketch

And this one is for the Scrappiest-

there's one tiny strip of new American Crafts paper on here- The fancy bit they put on the back of the barcode strip and the rest of it is out of my scrap draw

there's some old K and Company paper that I cut apart to make the flower doily shapes and some American Crafts paper as well- I have a whole series of about 12 pictures of Nancy like this- I'll have to make a LO with all of them on at once. I stuck some word stickers on each picture from the Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type 233/365
this is the sketch

I love it so much.....

I Made it twice!

I never intended to make it twice but I made a mistake- I started making the top LO for HMITM and it called for some really specific things like an item beginning iwth all the letters of your name and 28 items in total. Anyway there I was happily counting up items and sticking down the title when I realised the LO was supposed to be about your name. It was too late to just change my mind- the title was already stuck on the bottom square

But the sqaures hadn't been stuck down so I took the square off and saved it- put some more paper in and the correct title and this is what I made. 28 items in total including

K a flower from Kruidvat or K and Company card
A American Crafts paper
R ribbon
E ephemera bingo card
N note book punch

The journalling on the tag is about the nicknames my Great Aunt had for me- K-K or Karenie Custard
And with the square I took of I made a replica page with for the challenge I had in mind- my favourite scrapbooking tool for TAAFOMFT

I don't really have many tools for scrapbooking apart from scissors and paper trimmer- I do have an eyelet setter but I hate it so it really has to be my camera- I take photos daily and usually have it in my handbag with me

Going a little Vintage

Soul scrappers Glee Club is into week 5- the genre is country Pop and there are a series of song titles you can use as the title of the LO. Lessons learned was one of these titles- to try and keep with a country pop theme ( this felt a little bit impossible to me) I added a woodgrain paper and if you look closely at my vintage ladies two of them have stetsons and one has teamed it with a swimsuit, high heels and a revolver! Plus they are vintage 50s style the era of the Western movie.

Why is it lessons learned- never try and take a good picture of my three together- fact it will not work even if you take 100 in a couple of hours! 227/365

October Afternoon have a challenge on their blog which is to throw in a little vintage- I thought I didn't have much vintage ephemera to add but I have a few old postcards I bought at a flea market in Amsterdam so i added one of those and some sheet music that came from the same flea market

The photo is of my Mum in about 1959 I love that it's a black and White photo that's been coloured.

Shimelle's sketch latest sketch is up on her blog and I just jumped right in and put a LO together this afternoon. There's some new Sassafras Lass paper in there and then some really old K and Co paper and another vintage postcard- I tend to start making a Lo and then work out what photo to use- I just lay this picture of Stanley on the LO to see if the size would work and realised it toned in perfectly with the papers- It's the back of Stanley's head taken at the weekend at the Botanical Gardens in Utrecht- It made me realise how much he needs to get a hair cut- hence the title 228/365
Here is Shimelle's sketch

Bright and cheerful

Creative Scrappers I've posted this because I made it for the challenge but I'm not really very pleased with it- I think it's a bit too dull too tonally similar - I think I need to do more to it but I'm not sure what.

Anyway during our weekend cycle ride Nancy had great fun pulling up grass and then falling over onto the grass laughing hysterically- I didn't get a great photo but it's not bad
this was the sketch

I started making this Lo for Sketchy Thursday and then realised that it looked top heavy because I was layering stuff on top of a background paper so I flipped it upside down- Instead of three photos I chose one central photo and then cut some card to echo the bracket shapes on the sketch

the photo is Arthur blowing massive bubbles at our street party
the sketch

Sassy Lil Sketches- back to our weekend cycle ride- these are a few pictures of Arthur on his bike including a shot from behind so you can see his little passengers- he took his new Yoshi and Luigi with him strapped to his parcel rack- with this one i kept ther strips on the left hand side of the Lo but on the right I wanted to use the cloud paper and I only had a horizontal strip so I changed it round a little bit

Glitter card

It's my design team turn at over at the Twisted Sketches site this week. take a look over there for the sketch- the twist you need to include is glitter and this gave me the chance to use some DCWV glitter cardstock for my base.( although it may be a little hard to see from the photo)It's called with daddy and it's Nancy sitting on the sofa with her Dad enjoying a bottle of milk and a movie.

so exciting to get a package

Don't you love it when a pizza box arrives at the door? Especially if it doesn't have pizza in it ( although I don't mind that on occasion) I have finally got my hands on some of the new Crate Paper lines and got busy with them today.

This one is called Me and Nan and George - its from 1975 sitting in Nan's front garden with our mental dog George- he was a Beagle and not very happy if he was left on his own.
And this one is for the Design Dollies Trifecta- I don't think I've ever managed it before but the combination this month was- pink with a touch of yellow- a LO about me- and use the sketch which is below- I hope they didn't mean a LO about me now because this picture is from about 1975- taken at our village summer fair - the pony rides were an essential part of the summer fair for me- I love that you can see the village church in the background of the photo
the sketch

A moment in time

This Lo is for a challenge on the revamped Scrap the boys- I have been meaning to do this challenge all month but I just haven't got round to it until today. Anyway the challenge is to scrap a moment in time and use the time/ date as the title- I may be a little out on this - let me explain why- this LO is about Arthur competing in a 1000m race for age 4-6 year old so the title is the official time it took him to complete the race

WHY?

Why are there two identical blog hop posts below? I have no idea? I thought I had deleted one because it refused to let me post schedule it for the correct time. Sorry- but they both need to stay now as they both have lots of lovely comments!

Counterfeit bolg hop- scraplift yourself

Hello and welcome to the Counterfeit Kit blog hop for March- if you are here by accident you might want to go back to the beginning and start here- if not welcome!

THe blog hop this month is about Scraplifting yourself using the kit created for the original Counterfeit Kit challenge- the idea was to copy the latest sold out Studio calico kit- and then gut using it-

This is my kit- i just used what I already had- I bought nothing extra ( but later in the month i did buy a bee stamp inspired by the Studio CAlico kit-

Anyway onto my Scraplifting- I actually did two LOs- the first was inspired by this Lo because of the tags which I had in my kit ( sorry about the uncropped picture - something wwird happening with Picassa)
This is what I made-they both actually have the same title- can you see it too?- I look at this picture of me with my Mum and i think of how much I llok like my second son
This was my second LO the first LO is about Nancy being left handed- On the scraplifted LO I swapped the side of the shape- again I used an old photo from the 70s as I thought it fitted well with my papers- this photo is from the day in 1979 that I started school for the first time- my fifth birthday- but the photo is of my younger sister playing in the snow
I hope you like them- thanks for stopping by- please leave a comment so I know you've been

Next stop on the hop is Marlynn over at Mar's Scraps- find it here

Music and Poetry

Just trying to get these two LOs in before the deadlines- in- laws left this morning so I was back to scrapping again- well kind of- I had to go to school and pick up my eldest who was crying because Grandma and Grandpa were leaving!

Anyway- this one is for Scrapping the MUsic- the song was called Closer to fine and I wasn't sure what to take from the lyrics- then I thought of this hilarious picture of my husband when he graduated with his Ph.D- the line is Doctor of Philosophy so that became my title as James is officially a Doctor of Philosophy although his subject was Food Science 220/365

THis Lo is for Scrap that poetry- the line I took ( and changed ) was total sky almost without defect- yesterday was our 12th wedding anniversary- and we were talking about how the weather yesterday was the same as on our wedding day- almost perfect blue skies and lovely and warm which obviously fitted perfectly with the line from the poem! 221/365

Shimelle's sketch again

i got started on Shimelle's sketch for this week with a strip of bloue spotty paper but then as I searched through my scraps draw and started pulling bits out i decided to make two LOs from the sketch below though neither follow the sketch exactly.

The first is a couple of photos from when Arthur had chicken pox and was felling a little sorry for himself at home
The second is Nancy helping herself to a snack at home and filling three cups with crisps- I called it snackpot but I'm not sure whether it is based on jackpot or crackpot!

A last hurrah

My In -Laws arrive tomorrow- today I should be tidying the spare room (aka the scrap room) and the rest of the house but before I go off to the tip with 8 bags of rubbish I thought I might squeeze in a LO or two ( or more)

here's what I squeezed into my last scrapbooking time!

Arthur pulling silly faces- I used Echo Park papers and instead of the banner at the bottom of the sketch I cut out some cars from the paper and made a border with them.

I got out a doily to start making a LO from this sketch- then I saw this piece of die cut paper staring at me from the side of my desk- daring me to use it after having it for quite a while- so I abandoned the doily and made this instead- I bought this new bee stamp in Pipoos this week and found a use for it today- it looks an awful lot like the bee stamp that was in the latest Studio Calico kit that I didn't have an alternative for in my Counterfeit kit.

Nancy and Arthur went on a school trip this week- we went to a massive indoor playground in Amsterdam- my two had the best time ever- the whole place opened up just for us so they had the run of the place it was like the best birthday party just without the presents!

I ended up flipping the sketch once I started as I didn't want to cover up the papers I had stuck down on the left hand side of the page

Monster child!

Yet more from the unfortunate photo shoot at the zoo- I asked Arthur to move the hair from his eyes and this was the result. this is for the challenge over at Sassafras Lass. I had to use some old papers I have as I am still waiting to get my hands the new lines over here.

And why not try the latest challenge over at Scrapbookers anonymous if you haven't tried it already- you still have time

thank goodness that's over

the Scrappiest

I made this one for the scrappiest and I'm so glad that that weather is gone and spring id on it's way- this photo was taken as Nancy got ready to go out for a walk before Christmas in the deep snow. I want to journal on here with a whit pen ( above the title) but my white pen has met an unfortunate end after an incident with my daughter!
the sketch

Frame it

There's another challenge over at Counterfeit kit- use a frame somehow with your kit- it can be a LO or a card or a project but as it's me I chose a LO -i cut the hole out of the crad stock to create a frame and then used foam tape to lift the frame above the old sheet music- I found a stamp that I have had for over a year but somehow managed to lose until today!the photo is my Mum aged about 14- until then she had a long plait but she wanted her hair cut short and permed so my Nan cut her plait of still tied up with ribbon- she kept the plait wrapped up in tissue paper in a draw 211/365

pagerize

Scrap Our Stash's pagerize challenge this month is from Helena ( see her inspiration Lo at the bottom of this post)I loved the muted colours of Helena's LO and the vertical embellishment provided by the felt /lace so that's what I usedfor my Lo. I also stole the idea of the tag at the bottom of the picture.

This LO is my Grandfather on a beach somewhere- dressed in shirt, cardigan and jacket even though it must have been warm. i love that it is a very candid shot of him- no posing- I imagine he is reading the horse racing news in the
newspaper. Also in the background are some of his relatives from Markyate- I imagine this photo was taken in Ramsgate or Great Yarmouth

Helena's LO

How we used to celebrate

Here's another celebrate LO for the challenge over at Journaling JUnkie

journalling reads

When I was young a celebration in our family was not complete without a barrel of beer rolled down the road from one of the pubs in our village.

We had bee for Christmas and birthdays, Dad had all the pipes to set up a bar at the kitchen table. c.1978

the photo is me playing in the garden rolling a barrel of beer about!
