Arthur and the Bug

For Shimelle's latest starting point- I squuezed this one in the twenty minutes I had while the kids were out playing- my school broke up today and although i AM WORKING TOMORROW AT LEAST I DON'T HAVE TO PLAN LESSONS TONIGHT- too tired to go back and delete caps lock disaster

whatever the weather

A new sketch is live at Twisted sketches- this time the twist is Weather and if you want to see the sketch you'll need to hop over to the Twisted sight- follow the link at the side.

I chose to use some photos from my birthday back in January. Despite the freezing weather my three were determined to have an ice cream on our walk at Foxton Locks. In fact  the month of the year has no bearing on icecream consumption in our house ( or while we are out of it) it only matters whether the place we are has some in the freezer- not a given in the winter.

1974

this one is for the challenge at Punky scrap- they have a list of things for you to (try) and use

 Kraft cardstock- yes
a photo of yourself- as a baby with my Grandad
- 3 of something- three brads
- Masking and something Red- masked red 1974

- something metal- the brads
 something lucky- green
- fabric- erm no
- green paint- yes
- something pleated- erm no
- stitching- handmade or faux- erm no

I hope I'm still OK as  I seem to have missed a lot off the list-

easter2010

For the Easter sketch challenge at Another freaking Scrappy challenge the challenge was supposed to be my Easter memories but we never did egg hunts and I have no photos of the things I do remember- namely Cadbury's buttons eggs from my great aunt and massive eggs from my Dad's boss- so instead a LO with my favourite picture of Arthur on Easter Sunday at the Keukenhof Gardens in Holland- posing in front of a massive display of spring tulips

camel ride

and another for Shimelle- this time for the starting point challenge- a vintage early 80s photo of me and my sister on a camel at London Zoo. I remember the camel ride- and the fear but I seem to have blocked out of my memory the matching outfits- right down to the red sandals

and finally success?

A LO about self timer photos- they never really work for me - even when we all manage to get in the photo someone will always be looking the wrong way or pulling a face or something.

I made this using Shimelle's sketch of the week- managed to get things done before the deadline this time :)

close up

This LO is for the challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge- its about Spring Break or school holidays- this photo was taken on our half term holiday to the seaside in February. I took it while Nancy was enjoying an ice cream on the beach in the sunshine- now please don't think we were basking in glorious heat- it was February in the UK and we got to about 12 degrees but that doesn't stop us enjoying the beach and an icecream- if you look closely at the photo you can see the icecream around Nancy's mouth- yum

2p falls

Here I am again trying to catch up and post the LOs I made last weekend. This one was for the challenge at ATDML- I am in time for this one at least- the challenge was to use a number of manufacturers on the LO so I have
Echo Park
American Crafts,
October Afternoon
and Crate Paper
bazzil card

the LO is about my boys and their obsession with playing on the 2 penny falls when we are away on holiday

weather girl

I'm fed up with this working full time lark- really fed up with it. I made this LO last weekend for Shimelle's starting point, managed to photograph it, upload it to the blog but then had no time to actually write the post - until now- and Shimelle is already on her next starting point :(

any way its me in my home made fancy dress outfit at our village fair- I was a weather girl with hand made badges on my jumper for the symbols they use on the weather reports. Bad huh ( but not as bad as the boy behind me who was a clock, with a brown box on his head and a piece of brown paper dangling down in front.

my dear/ deer

the latest challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous is the Alphabet challenge and we have reached the letter H- I've been saving up little bits of Hambly to use on this and I whacked them all on here.

I think I may need to add some journalling in the space next to the title as the photo needs a little explanation.

this fake deer head is on our wall. I caught Nancy behind our sofa wearing this as a mask

fantabulous

Here is my latest submission for the Scrap it with a Song design team-

the whole month of March is based around songs by Irish musicians. This time its Moondance by Van Morrison.

I chose the word fantabulous from the lyrics and then used a range of yellow and orange Moon like circles on a night sky ( almost) dark blue background.

fake grass- how disappointing

This is my version of the new sketch at Twisted Sketches- the twist this time is Green and if you want to see the sketch you'll need to hop over to the Twisted blog- the link is at the side.

I had a few photos that I could have used for this LO- a great one from a tree top walk looking over the canopy, a cute one of my daughter on a forest walk but I chose this one- Arthur took it himself of the new artificial turf at the speeltuin. I thought it was so cute that Arthur was taking his own foot photos just like me

lucky

here is my submission for latest challenge over at Scrap Our stash- the challenge for the month of MArch is green= whichever way- the colour, the ethos, the idea of luck- its up to you

I used a mosaic/quilting effect as I have seen this all over the place recently and its a great way to use up little bits of leftover paper. I used my square punch to make some equal squares and then arranged them on my LO- before I stuck them down- warning do not sneeze of cough while arranging ( I did - I know the consequences)

I added a few splashes of pink to lift the colour-

the green challenge also went beautifully with the idea of luck for this month so I added the title "lucky"

spring time sketch

here's my version of the sketch over at stuck  this month. I finally managed to use the chip Crate Paper bike I'd been hoarding . I decided to leave the strip of the reverse paper on the side and cut a strip off the other side instead. I used a picture from last year of the Botanical Gardens at Utrecht University.

3:16pm

Sarah's Cards has a challenge this month to scrap your work- and it just so happens that I took a photo of my classroom last week as my children have been asking about what it looks like.

it's not normally laid out like this but that's just how it looked as my class left at approximately 3:16 on Thursday

I don't want to scrap about whether I like my job or not, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it myself at the moment, I'm exhausted and its been a bit of a bad time at the school recently and that's without the fact that its keeping me away from scrapping. In fact I should have used my blog name as the title to the LO

1 happy boy

There's a fab new challenge blog out there called Child's play - every week they challenge you to make a new LO based on a child's toy, game or book- use the inspiration however you want- the colours, the name, the toy itself, the construction of it the ideas it brings you and make a LO- any LO

I was lucky enough to be picked for the design team and this is my second submission- its based on a little wooden tool box and I took inspiration from the colours and the shapes of it to make a LO about my son at the festival of History- why not hop over to the blog to have a look at the rest of the inspiration and then have a go!

beach huts

straight off I shall apologise to Artastic. I know they want original entries but this is my second for the month so maybe they'll let me off (I hope so )

I'm using the LO for the Studio challenges chevron challenge as well but as I started making it it fitted with the travel stuff I had on my desk already- it may not be a picture of on the beach but it is the beach huts behind the beach

I made my chevrons from a selection of washi tapes

blackpool

this one is one of me- at Blackpool on a donkey with my sister in the background- this is for the challenge at Artastic and I'm not sure this was in anyone's mind when the challenge was set-
the challenge was to include- palm trees or leaves ( i have both) a beach photo- check and 2-3 beach embellies- I have a chipboard shell piece and the Palm beach girl ( another palm?)  the thing is I'm sure the challenge should be tropical warmth and beating sunshine- not a cold windswept northern beachfront in Blackpool complete with donkies!

snakes

I'm ignoring the work I should probably be doing for tomorrow and spending a bit of time scrapping today

this one is for White with one- the challenge is to use white with another colour and a small extra- this month its kraft and layering

I sepiad some photos of my son's birthday party yesterday ( he had an animal party with snakes and spiders and hedgehogs and stuff) and layered them with a few brown tones and some kraft paper

first day

A LO for my design team work at Scrapbookers Anonymous- you may be surprised  but the challenge this month was a really hard one for me- Stickers- I am so bad with stickers- I rarely buy them- I really am routed in pretty paper and a few embellies so to make a LO using stickers was soo difficult

A few months ago I gave Nancy quite a few of my stickers - the ones I'd had for 5 years plus, that came with kits and that I'd never used . So I had to steal them back to make this- the background is made using alphabet stickers- and that was about the best I could do for this one.  there's some thickers and a sticker embellie as well but I'm quite sure the rest of the design team and the readers can do a whole lot better than me- why not go over to the Scrapbookers Anonymous blog and see? the link is at the side

early Snow

The challenge for From Screen to Scrap for MArch is up and ready for your Inspiration

This month the poster is the Day After Tomorrow

the added criteria are
white  with a touch of blue for the colour scheme
one photo
and a white title

I had to compromise with the title and make it half white and half white with a touch of blue
I went with a photo of the early snow in 2010 while we were away for a weekend in Zeeland
