I have really missed doing the counterfeit kit challenges while I have been in the process of moving house so when there two to copy this month I really wanted to have a go at both of them.

(let me apologise now for the poor pictures - it might have been sunny outside but it was too windy to take out more that one thing at a time)

The first one uses a selection of  blues and greens including some very old paper that has a stitched looked to it and some newer paper from Crate paper with a calendar on it

the second one has a brown colour scheme  again there's a mix of old and newer paper some old basic grey and Scenic route , Love Elsie and WRMK and some newer American Crafts, Studio Calico and October Afternoon

in both of them you can see my lack of embellishments

Well finally I'm almost back in normal mode (almost) I managed to get a few challenges finished while the boys were out at the football today and goodness have I missed doing the challenges-

This one is for Artastic and the challenge is to use this painting by Vincent van Gogh



This happens to be one of my favourite paintings- and one I will really miss going to see at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.

Shazza also added the following criteria to the challenge
 a blue background
some white flowers
white or brown title letters

The picture reminded me of the fake blossoms I'd bought to go in our playroom against the newly painted wall so I took a photo of them and printed it out on a large scale to look like the picture- the LO then had to be about our new decoration at the house. I used some tiny punched flowers to look like blossom on a bakers twine branch

Home town

Here's my third LO for the Journaling Junkie home town challenge- this time the home town I've just vacated- Hilversum in Noord Holland

The guide books don't really recommend a visit to Hilversum- they definitely don't advise you to stay- there isn't really much of note- even the postcards don't have much to put on them. But its been a nice plave to live for nearly three years and every so often I might get a glimpse of it on TV when I'm back in the UK because Hilversum is the home of Dutch TV braodcasting and radio- and when the Eurovision Song contest comes around the results will be announced from Hilversum with a view of this building behind

Home town

For My second Home Town challenge at Journalling Junkie I've made a LO about my new home town- the one I should be living in again by the time this is posted! Lutterworth in Leicestershire

Lutterworth doesn't have much of note- even the sign has to resort to "workplace" of instead of birthplace of but it is renowned for being the place where the bible was first translated into English by John Wycliffe and the place where frank Whittle worked while developing the first ever jet engine

Where I'm from

the latest challenge at Journalling junkie is to scrap your home town- this has caused a little bit of confusion for me- as I was making this LO I was packing up to leave one home town and by the time the challenge went live I would be in my new one!

So in the end I made three!

this one is the home town of my youth- the town where I grew up- St Albans in Hertfordshire

you might live in various different places but most people have somewhere they regard as their home town- I grew up in St Albans and the best thing we could think of as kids was a walk round the lake by the abbey and feed the ducks.

Chipboard challenge

The Scrapbookers Anonymous challenge for September is chipboard- getting you to use up that bare naked chipboard or the pre printed variety anything you have wallowing in your satsh unused and unloved!

In the end I made two LOs for this challenge and left it to the ladies to decide which one they used for my submission

On both of my LOs I started by misting a background using chipboard pieces from my stash first in white and then with a colour splashed across to add depth- on the first a large 12x12 sheet that had circles in it- the second a full alphabet

On this LO I then inked up some bare chipboard to match my chipboard alphas- I love this picture I took of Nancy with her head on my lap
On this I misted the alphabet and then used a few small prints across one of the rows of letters- I used an old Basic Grey chipboard dinosaur to embellish
And this is the card I made- using another of the BAsic grey chipboard dinosaurs to make a simple card

Rio

Th September Movie Challenge at from Screen to Scrap is a great one - I think- for summer holiday pictures- its full of bright summer colours

Here it is

Its Rio and Shazza has a few simple things she wants you to add to your LO-

1. a bird

2. A one word title

3. red, blue and yellow card stock

It was the red card stock that let me down on this LO- I really truly have not one piece of red card- well I do but it was slightly pinky red and looked just silly so I had to use some red polka dot paper instead ( hear the sound of my knuckles being rapped for being naughty) but actually i think it looks great- I stamped a few birds to get the birds in and the one word title was simple with a photo like this - it had to be slpaSh!
