using supplies 5 I love this city

up to LO number 5 in my supplies challenge- this time I used one of the papers as a background instead of the white card. I made myself some large banners with strips of the papers. the title is one of the journalling bits from one of the papers " I love this City" so I needed some pictures of LOndon for the LO. I used these two as they fitted in with the grey paper.
the first is my three running up and down in the turbine hall at Tate Modern. the other photo id from the other side of the river- St Paul's Cathedral

Most secret supplies

Reporting this as I seemed to have some dodgy thing with China going on

i thought the last post was my last Shimelle challenge for the week but as I scrolled down through the NSD post I noticed that one of the challenges only had one submission- the use unusual/surprising  items  on your LO challenge- so feeling sorry for the lonely LO I wandered round my house picking up a few random items to use on a LO
underneath is a picture of what I picked up

an old dictionary that I have torn pages out of before for scrapping
two clothing tags -nothing special about them at all
a paper envelope from my coat that had a spare button in
some fancy post it notes
some stickers
a most secret stamped image from a trip to the Cabinet War Roooms in London
i also added a tiny playing card from a cracker
an old stamp
a CAth Kidston badge
and the left overs from a punched out butterfly from another LO

Using supplies 4 relax

up to LO number four in my supplies challenge- scroll down to see the supplies- for this LO I cut bits of paper into trianlges and laid them out in a pattern . i cut off the edge of the white card and matted it onto a striped paper but I gutted the paper first and you have already seen the middle section on the first LO I posted

the picture id of Nancy at Wembley stadium- we went to watch a rugby match there and were in Club Wembley- the posh section so we hung around after and relaxed on the leather(ette) sofas while we waited for the crowds to disperse a bit- you can see them walking down Wembly Way in the background

using supplies 3 - Big Ben

For this LO in my using my supplies series I used an idea I had seen on Paige Evans blog. I love her use of patterned paper- she uses lots of it in gorgeous combinations and I wanted to do something similar to make my supplies go further ( scroll down to see my supplies)

At the side I tried to use up a few more of my London Eye/ Big Ben photos- I have too many and the LO is about how I always take them- every time we visit

Using suppiles 2- be playful

here is LO 2 using my pile of supplies- scroll back to see the supplies I used. For this one I decided to layer up bits of the papers and used some of the journalling bits from one of the papers. don't you just love the bike paperclip.

Using some suppiles number ONe

I decided to set myself a bit of a challenge to see how many LOS I could make from a limited set of supplies. I chose eight papers and a pile of scraps. I supplemeted it with as many sheets of white card as I needed and allowed myself to use any letters, punches and tape  I wanted.

here are my eight papers- these ones are mostly from a paper pad by AC so they are not double sided which limited me a little

these were the scraps ( although i did add a couple of otheres as i went on)

and here is the first LO that I made
for this LO I used a mat of one of the papers and then the barcode strips from all the papers as well as strips of the papers that I had chosen

the photo is not great but my son Arthur took it with his i-pod and that was part of the story that I wanted to scrap
its called "Arthur's taking a picture so smile"
stay tuned to see how many more I managed to make

On Daddy's shoulders

It's time for the Scrap Our Stash sketch challenge. You'll need to hop over to the blog to see the sketch but I can tell you there is an addition to the sketch. You need to add at least three premodern flowers on your LO as well.
My LO has three brown fabric flowers that my sister gave me and a couple of chipboard flowers too.
The phot is Nancy on the shoulders of my husband shot from below. The colours I thought fitted with the colours of the papers and the flowers.

Drenthe

scrap it with a Song is continuing its weather based challenges with Mr Blue Sky by ELO. What better paper to use than this lovely cloud paper.
The photo is from one of our dutch holidays in an area called Drenthe. It's famous for it'S Hunnebeds. These are ancient stone burial chambers and you can see my three sitting on the top of one that we found on a cycle trip.

the Thames

A couple of pictures of a trip to London and our time by the Thames. One view is the Houses of Parliament and one is the shadow of the London Eye across the river.

This is for our latest challenge at Child's Play. It's a craft challenge this week - buttons. So as you can see I've squeezed nine buttons in blue tones onto my LO

Love you More

and my last Shimelle challenge completed this week- taking the total to 14 out of her 24 challenges- there were more that I wnated to try but not enough time.

this Lo is fir the 4x6 photo challenge- now strivtly my photos are not 4x6 they are 4x somethhing else but I have very few that are 4x6 as my digital camera takes a slightly smaller size and i go ofr the smaller print so i don't have any ramdom cropping. anyway the smaller size allowed me to mount the white onto the floweres paper which is very much like the t-shirt Nancy is wearing in the picture

School photos

and yet another Shimelle challenge- this time it was to use tiny photos on a LO

these photos are my children's school photos and when we ordered them we got a free sheet with 40 of the tiniest photos you've ever seen on them- this turns out to be a good thing if I want to scrap the photo of all three of them as it means the photo is so small that no-one in blog land can see the awful face he is pulling in the picture- you'd think in the days of digital photography the school professional could get a better picture than the one I ended up with

Happy trails

I have been a bit cheky on this Shimelle challenge and combined a couple together. I have made this LO as a companion page
to this LO which is for the using divided pages challenge
which means they combine as a double page like this
the LOs are of our summer trips to London where we followed the trails to find the Olympic mascot statues- Wenlock and Mandeville. I took photos at every statue we found so this gave me the opportunity to use up a few there are three on the LO four on one side of the divider and four on the other and I know I have scrapped a few of these statue pictures already

Beautiful Bride

I'm not sure if Shimelle's milestone challenge was supposed to be a milestone of your own or if it could be someone else's. I have made a LO about my Sister's milestone anyway. this is her on her wedding day- its coming up to her two year anniversary I have not yet managed to finish her album- shame on me but there you go- so here is an attempt to get back into scrapping her wedding

Random acts of Nancy

so on the continuing theme of Shimelle's challenges here is the next. this one is for the scrapping with square photos challenge- i love using Hipstamatic and Instagram on my phone to take pictures and hence I have lots of square photos but these two photos are not taken by me.

Nancy quite often asks to play on my phone as I have various apps on there for her but she is also to be found taking random pictures- i can get my phone back with about 30 photos on that she has taken of herself.

the photos on here are ones she took and that I found on there later- the first is when we were at Pizza Express for dinner- the secon a random picture of a man in tight trunks ( possibly Tom Daly) during the Olympics

Wind blown

this LO is for another Shimelle challenge- this time the challenge is favourite papers - at the moment my absolute favourite papers are woodgrain type efect papers ( or cork board) that offer a patterned but neutral background for a LO- similarly I adore tiny  polka dot papers that offer the same possibility- pattern but not overwhelming or eye catching

another LO I didi with a wood grain background was this one

You make me happy when skies are grey

A quick LO for a  SHimelle challenge

this one was for using three clusters on a LO something I like to do anyway

cousins

this challenge for Shimelle was to line up something on the LO- photos or embellishments or something- so I decided to cut the cameras from the American Crafts paper and line them up at the side of the paper- I still appear to be scrapping in pink which was Shimelle's first challenge

the photos are of Stanley and his little cousin at arecent family christening.

please don't (but do)

And another shimelle challenge attempted. this time scrapping about me. its called "Please don't (but do)" becasue that's kind of how I feel about photos of me. I'm not a fan of having my photo taken but I also wish that my family would at least attempt occasionally to take a photo of me ( or a photo with me in it)

this one was one of the series that Arthur took when he had just got his new i-pod and he was playing about with the camera function in the car.

oh and the sunburst technique was from Shimelle's site earlier in the week- i nicked that one too.

going underground

Another Lo for the challenges at Shimelle this week. the challenge I used on this one was misting- i have a limited supply of mists ( well one good one) so I used a paper with a mist effect on it and then added some drops of my white over the top. i also stamped onto the flowerd patterned paper

the LO is called going underground and the photo shows Nancy, James and Stanley on the underground train in LOndon on our way into the city- i think we were still overground at that point

Closing ceremony

Another Olympic LO and another for a Shimelle challenge- number 11 - add sparkle- easy with a few sparkly thickers.

the photo is Nancy dancing to the music of the Olympic closing ceremony- we had travelled to Belgium that day for the first day of our holiday- Nancy was determined to stay up and watch some of the ceremony- the boys were virtually asleep before it started. Nancy was up and dancing for a long time- I had to force her to get into bed and in the end had to turn it off so that she would go to sleep.

basketball arena 2012

So I am still on the Shimelle NSD challenge trail. this is for challenge ^- scraplift yourself

the LO below is the onei am scraplifting and the one above is the one I made this morning when my husband was out on a run- it was nice to have a bit of time to scrap but meanwhile the boys decided to kick a soft ball about in the lounge and knocked everything off the mantlepiece- was that a warning not to scrap with children in the house or should I just ignore it?

Anyway the LO above is two instagram photos of the Basketball arena at the Olympic park- it was an amazing building- completely temporary and I think it has already been taken down- we had a great morning in there watching some women's basketball group matches

London Road Trip

Well it's national scrapbooking day and  Shimelle has a series of challenges that I shall attempt to scrap over the next few days . i have managed to scrap three today but I think I will post bit by bit to spread out the fun and so you may not notice that they are all scrapped with a limited set of supplies.

this challenge was to scrap with Pink. the LO is called London Road trip and the photo was taken by my son with his new i-pod after Christmas. he was so excited by all its features that he decided to take pictures of all of us in the car as we travelled down to London for a few days.

the border is made from washi tape in case you were interested.

hello

Scrap Our stash have a great challenge this month. The challenge is to use patterned paper a rub ons. Ok the rub ons we a little tricky for me as I don't really buy them but I do have an odd packet or two that came in other sets. With the PP you need to use at least three different lines. So mine is mostly American Crafts but within that there are at least three different lines. There is also some October Afternoon and Echo Park and maybe something else too.

The phots are of my daughter and her cousin having a cuddle when we had a visit at Christmas

Buckingham Palace

On one of our trips to London we took a walk up the Mall in the dark to Buckingham Palace. The photo is Nancy standing by the Queen Victoria statue lit up beautifully in the dark. She has. A smile on her face but she was tired and exhausted by the time we'd walked up the road.

in the Wind

The challenges for May at Scrap it With a Song are all weather based and this week it is the Bob Dylan classic Blowing in the Wind.
Fr this LO I used a photo of Arthur and Nancy at one of Stanley's cricket matches last year. It may be a summer game but is was so cold. Arthur and Nancy were huddled up on the blanket in their coats with their hair blowing in the wind.

bridge

This is my latest LO for the From Screen to ScrAp challenge. The challenge this month is the movie poster the Perks of being a Wallflower. The challenge this month is to add into the LO some bricks ( I had to use some ink and a domino to create mine) some green card and a black title.

I love the photo in the picture, it's Nancy on a bridge in the garden at out friends house.
