double page- less boring?

Well I finally got away from six photos across the page for a double page spread- and I'm quite pleased with it but to me it looks like two single page Los rather that a double? I need to find a compromise between the two styles but I use ring albums mostly not post bound so I also have the issue of the space between the pages to deal with (50/365)

A year in review

This Lo is for the challenge over at Sarah's Cards to make a LO about the highlights of last year.
This is what I came up with- A double page spread with 12 little pictures of Nancy charting her adventures and faces!

I love polka dot paper and on here I have used Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather- green
October Afternoon _ Modern Homemaker- red and yellow
And some very old paper that I can't remember where it came from! (49/365)

hand drawn elements

The design Dollies asked this week for hand-drawn elements on the LOs so not being very happy with my doodling on a LO I wrote the title instead- there are also a few tiny hand drawn swirls on the LO to add to the glimmer mist and acrylic paint- Nancy made me take a picture of her holding a feathered puppet over her head48/365

muffled soft in snow

Feeling a little naughty again today _ this LO is for three challenges ( so apologies) but the snow here has gone and if I see another snowflake this side of June it will be too soon- so when all the challenge sites want winter/snow LOs and I'm not really in the mood for snow this is what happens

So the challenge is for - 1. scrap that poetry- the title of the Lo is from the latest poem- "muffled in soft snow" as it includes a picture of Nancy muffled up for a trip out as well as walking to her doctor's appointment
2. Twisted Sketch number 84 ( the twist being winter)
and 3. if I'm being really cheeky the paper trail makers blog whose challenge is snow
Hope that's Ok

and extra cheeky! I'm now linking this up to the SEI link party because I used the SEI Kris Kringle paper as the large circle
47/365 ( is that a bit ridiculous?)

What is my style?

I was trying to define my style today for and couldn't really work out what to call it- clean and simple yes, but not always, sometime shabby chic, maybe eclectic? but then I decided on bits, birds and borders with lots of white space! This Lo is for the Scrappiest (99)
here is the sketch

And this Lo is for no purpose whatsoever apart from I wanted to!
Love the colour of Nancy's hair in this photo- it's called the hairy pair because of the colour of Nancy's hair and Arthur's long hair

JAnuary 2011

I always feel a little disappointed after taking my LO photos- they never look quite as good as I hoped - unless the weather is beautiful ( which it hasn't been for days or weeks)

Which brings me to the Cosmo Cricket challenge for this month- scrap your January

This is the Lo I made using some new mitten weather paper and some old Girl Friday paper- I love polka dots and especially that pink Girl Friday paper- it was the last sheet so I felt I needed to cut it down so I had a bit for some other projects

there's also some Cosmo Cricket tiny type in pink and yellow on there

And what's it all about- a few things really
1. It's my birthday in January ( I share the date with Elvis) and this year my gift was a kindle hence the picture
2. At the moment the weather is dreadful ( non stop rain) so me and Nancy are stuck inside- I really wanted to go to Amsterdam today but no chance in the pouring rain
3. Nancy starts school in five weeks so this is the last few days of just her and me ( hence the photo and the yellow phrase)
4. I am torn at the moment between staying in with Nancy ( because it's easy- she keeps running off in shops and insists on being bought things) and going out to enjoy her last days of freedom before the next 15 years of school kick in. Just before Christmas we went to Amsterdam together and visited the Van Gogh Museum we were there at 10 when it opened and knowing the museum we headed straight upstairs to the lilies and the sunflowers and the corn fields- we had 15 minutes on our own with the paintings before anyone else worked their way up there. I feel i need a few more of those moments before she starts school - I just need the rain to stop

This is all journalled about on the tag-

Sassafraslass

This sheet of Sassafraslass inspired me to make a LO of my Nan's war years ( partly because of the date on the ephemera on the paper).

I loved this paper when I saw it and wondered how I could make it work because, although it is gorgeous, its flat!(IYKWYM)

So I cut out the ephemera bits and added some of my own to give it a bit more texture- I added a vintage postcard of my own and a vintage stamp some buttons and punched out shapes

My Nan joined the WAAF (airforce) in WWII when she was conscripted to join - she was given a choice and went with the airforce because she thought the colour of the uniform suited her better- this photo is of her and some of the other girls she was stationed with- she's second from the right on the back row looking glamorous despite the uniform
