Child's play blog hop

Hello and welcome to the next step on the Child's Play first ever bloghop.

If you've just come from  Wendi's  blog then you'll know I was inspired by the Mr Bump book for this LO. ( by the way if you haven't hopped over from there you might want to go to the beginning of the hop which is here.

So here's how Mr Bump inspired me.....

Nancy comes home from school at least once a week with a slip in her bag that says she's injured herself at school. So I made a LO with one of those slips on it (its tucked behind the journalling spots)and a photo of her with one of her (made up) injuries.
I used the colours of Mr Bump in the LO ( as they were also the colours of the injury slip) and put two stripes of white across the page to represent Mr Bumps bandages.
here's a close up

We have a fabulous gift for one lucky hopper, here's what you need to do to enter:
1-check out each blog along the hop and leave a comment
2-post about the hop on your blog
3-link your post on our special "Blog Hop" linky in the sidebar of the Child's Play blog
4-BONUS!! create a layout based on any of the DTs inspiration items and post that link for a second entry!!

ANd here's what inspired the next team member

Hop on over to the marvellous Magaret to see what she created inspired by the tea set.

punky

the get picky challenge at Punky Scraps caught my eye this time with some cute inspiration so I thought I'd have a go
the list to pick from is

 Anything brown
 use 5 different patterned papers
 use splashes of paint
 5 lines of journaling
 Tulle/Mesh/Burlap
Butterflies
Denim

I've got 5 papers, some splashes, 5 lines of journalling and some butterflies and I guest the kraft counts as brown too.

crop weekend part five

Thank goodness Shimelle gave us an extra week to take part in her online crop weekend- I've managed a few other LOs today (and I'm hoping for a couple more tomorrow)

CHallenge 14- four sections
I shrunk my four sections a little and used a strip of a photo and four journalling blocks and tags for my shapes
challenge 16- scraps
I always use scraps its easy to as my desk is a filthy pile of bits- this Lo is a large photo of part of the Elgin Marbles nicked from the Acropolis in Greece-
challenge 10- bold background
my three eating ginormous cupcakes with piles of icing- went perfectly with the sticker

feeling groovy

OMG I'm so behind- this LO was for the Scrap It With a Song challenge that went out last week. Its to go with the 59th Street Bridge song ( feeling groovy) and I started with the colours found the photo and then found there was a line in the lyrics that said " I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep" and voila I had made a LO for the challenge without knowing where I was going!

egg Hunt

this may be my quickest LO ever- I'm back at work after two weeks off with the kids and there was me naively thinking I could scrap and get this done when I was I was back at work- ha ha. So I scrabbled this together in about 15 minutes for the latest challegne over at the Child's Play blog-
the challenge is to use an egg dying kit for inspiration- I've never done egg dying even when I bought a kit in Holland- so I have no photos - so I went with the colours and used a photo of Nancy at a Easter egg hunt at Kenilworth castle that we went to last week

crop part four

One of Shimelle's challenges this weekend was to use two different patterns of paper with a 1/3 2/3 split- so here's mine. 2/3 stripes, 1/3 star polka dots and two photos of the boys outside the circus that came to town.
someone sent me a postcard from Holland with a Circus Renz stamp on it- I really need to find it and add it it this LO ( but you've seen the mess my scrap room is in! LOL)

my work space!

the last post for the Scrapbookers Anonymous site- we're going out with a little peek into our scrappy lives- this is the hovel that I call my scrap room- the floor looks about as good as this- as the title of my blog says I'd rather be scrapbooking instead so I leave the tidying until it gets to crisis point!

crop part three

the aim of Shimelle's fifth challenge was to use the LO below as an inspiration for your LO. I used the the idea of the large panoramic photo, the strips down the side, the punching at the top and  the half circle border along the top of the photo- I love the photo of Arthur I used- he was such a grumpy lump in the towel

scrapbooking challenge :: inspired by wilna furstenberg

No 1 Girl

This one is for Kraft it up's latest challenge- using the same photo as I used earlier in the week- the challenge is Kraft with three more kraft items- I have a tag, the title and some kraft PP

crop weekend part two

And so to part two of Shimelle's online crop weekend- these two LOs are for challenges three and four

Challenge four is a colour challenge- yellow, grey and one other colour- I chose turquoise blue for my colour- the photos today are not really doing the LOS justice- I took the photos in bright sunshine and they seem a little washed out
Challenge three was to scraplift a designer you like or a style you've never tried before- I love the way Paige Evens is making patchwork inspired LOs at the moment so I tried to emulate her style- I punched out a few squares, cut them diagonally and then made a patchwork pattern with them- the LO is about me and my sister and the Cowboy hat I was obsessed with aged three. ( I decided to boost the colour of this a bit)

crop weekend part one

Shimelle has a crop weekend running from today ( although you have over a week to join in if you feel like it) I've already had a go at her first two scrappy challenges-

Number one a Scraplift there is a LO on her blog to use for inspiration ( follow the link at the top) I flipped it 90 degrees
the photo is Nancy holding the egg she won as a prize in the Lutterworth Museum Easter egg hunt- I don't know what was better for her- winning the egg or her brother's jealousy!

Number two- a challenge to use at least three different paper collections on one LO- this was right up my street- I always mix manufacturers or collections as I feel my LO looks too homogonised if I fo- so this Lo has on it some
Echo Park
Studio Calico
Jillibean soup and some
Crate paper

the photo is me aged about two or three in my toy box- journalling is about the memories of the toy box itself

cup cake

Si its time for my latest Twisted Sketch and here it is- the twist is brads and I have a collection of three at the bottom of the picture. If you want to see the sketch and get some more information hop over to the blog ( use the link at the side) and have a look.

The LO is about Nancy and her enormous cupcake on holiday in Cornwall last year- by the look of the picture it was almost the size of her head!

colour challenge

So here is my entry for the Crate Paper colour challenge- the colour combo is bright pink, map blue and yellow

I think I've managed quite a few different collections on this
there's some
pretty paper,
 random,
 Emma's shoppe
neighbourhood
and a tiny smidgen of story teller too

as well as a Cath Kidston badge my sister gave me for Christmas- I have another three waiting to be used

Love U Arthur

For Shimelle's starting point this week. Mine is a little simpler than hers- I like space on my LOs- there's a mix of stuff here- the chevrons are My Minds Eye, Echo Park arrow , Pink Paislee letters, Sassafrass letters, Crate cards, and American crafts stamp as well as a bit of AC packaging

Nancy

This LO is for the challenge at Scrap the girls- A lovely simple sketch ( see below)
I used some of the Dear Lizzy paper to make this and just added one photo cut to size on the polaroid style paper

once upon a time

I am still trying to make the album for my sister's wedding even though it was almost a year ago- so the From Screen to Scrap Challenge pushed me into at least one more LO for it.
The challenge is based on the movie Forver After and the challenge is to use
1 a fairytale title
2.bling ( I have a glittery title)
3. journalling- mine is hidden on the tag at the top of the page

this is the poster

here comes the sun

The latest challenge is up at Scrap it With a Song and here is my design team submission for Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles-

MY LO may not look like it has anything to do with the Sun but this song is one that always brings back thoughts of my Mum. When My Mum died  seven years ago my sister and I were given the task of choosing a Beatles song to play at her funeral, this and "things we said today" were our choices.

In the end we went with "Things we Said today"  but I cannot hear this song without crying- or the other one if it comes to it.

spring fling

The latest challenge is up at Scrap Our Stash. the challenge is Spring FLing- however you want to interpret it.

the photo is a real cute one-its from last spring when we visited the Botanical Gardens in Utrecht and I managed to get a shot of my son hiding behind the daffodils- he's not in focus but the daffodils are and he was not willing to let me take another.

I used some nice spring like colours on my LO too to tie in with the theme

remember this moment- stuck

I made this LO for Stuck's' latest challenge- I was waiting for the link thing to go up but If I don't post it soon I'll forget! I just hope I don't forget to link it!
It's Nancy at the beach looking in a rock pool- a moment of quiet contemplation caught- there aren't many in my household!
this is the sketch

3 of a kind

A quick post- this one is for Shimelle's starting point this week
Its the school holidays- I was hoping for time to scrap- so far only two LOS made and no real time to post either- not helped by the fact I have to wrestle my children for the computer as my lap top is currently out of use

from beginning to end

I was there for the first challenge and I was there for the last- sadly - very sadly- Scrapbookers Anonymous is hosting their last challenge after 18 months of exciting challenges

this is the last
a combination of map paper and brads
in honour of the last challenge I made a double page LO
In the end I only used four brads they are in between my circles of map paper
this is the double page

this is the first page

and the second
It would be nice if you could hop over to the blog and have a go with us for our last challenge- there are still prizes to be won and plenty of inspiration to be had

in bulk

These are just two of the five LOS I managed to make last week end. Problem was that it was the 31st and I was itching for all the new challenges to be up and running while I had a bit of time to scrap. Unfortunately no but these are two I rustled up anyway.

1. Watching Soldiers
Stanley at the Festival of History a few years back

2. the world on my wall
my toilet wall actually- this is where I stick up all the postcrossing postcards I get
the photo is just a small section of the over 300 I have bluetacked round the room
