Gap tooth Love

A quick LO with a large photo and a few bits and bobs as embellishments. The photo is Nancy on the beach showing off the gap in her teeth when she lost the bottom two.

Ambition fulfilled

it has been a long held ambition of Arhtur's to be picked to volunteer in a show in Covent Garden. its not really to do with the show itself but more to do with the fact he has seen the volunteers get a five pound note to then encourage the crowd to give generously. He has put his hand up many times but never been picked. recently we went to London and we arrived as the performer was setting up, he selected Arthur as we walked up to take a seat, Arthur got his five pound note, ambition fulfilled ( yes a have spelt it wrong on the LO). Arthur was even more pleased to find that in all the other shows we saw that day no other child got money, one got a bag of sweets, the others- nothing.

In Fear of My Life

This is for a Shimelle sketch. The sketch also asked you to use a title on the photo. This photo is from our trp to Gibralter at Easter.

I hate heights at the best of times, I hate being in tall buildings but put me in a cable car and 8'm even worse. I become a quivering wreck, unable to function normally, my legs turn to jelly and my brain fails. So when we went to Gibralter and the only way to get to the top of the rock was a cable car I knew it would be bad. I couldn't manage to take photos of the view myself, I could only hang on and wait. james had the camera and took great delight in taking photos of me in my moments of panic.

The phot is me in the cable car, the title is...... In Fear of My Life.

Face and Hat

This is the kind of thing that can happen if my husband and children go out unsupervised. This Mexican Cactus, complete with hat, face and moustache came home with them from the garden centre. I then had to keep it in pride of place on my window sill.

I used the sketch at Shimelle for this and yet again I changed it a bit. I didn't have any smaller photos to use and as usual my printer is almost out of ink so I used the square letters to replicate the sketch. I did manage to get the misting in that was suggested by Shimelle.

Rosetta Stone

This LO is for the sketch challenge at Dutch Dares. They have great challenges if you can translate the page. I feel a little bad joining in even though I don't live in Holland any more. Sometimes I try to use photos from our time in Holland, this time no but in my defence Arthur is wearing his H and M  Netherlands top and  the orange button at the top came from the Albert Cuypstraat market.

The photos are Arthur with the fake Rosetta Stone at the British Museum that you can actually touch. Arthur was really excited to see the real thing  but super excite by the fake one that he could run his hand across.

It happens all the Time

This LO is for the sketch challenge at Sarah's cards.  The sketch is a a bit different to the LO  in that I shrunk it and then put it in the middle of the LO.

It's called " it happens all the time- feet" . The children think that I am forever taking pictures of my feet- which is a lie but when we are on holiday I do tend to take a few. However I rarely scrap them.

The photo is from our half term trip to Zeeland in the Netherlands. I took a few photos of the washed up jelly fish on the beach and then of course I needed a picture of my feet because they were in my view.

Evening Bike Ride

So this is my second effort at the Shimelle sketch that asked you to use a favourite paper. As I said before my fave papers are wood, grain, polka dots and ledger paper. This time clearly I decided on  a polka dot paper.  Yet again I haven't followed the sketch exactly.

The LO is from our last holiday in the Netherlands. We went to Limburg and every evening we went on a cycle ride that took us across the border and into Germany. This was us in the nearest German town. If you look closely at the photo you can see Nancy in the front of my bike with a bottle of milk in her hand.scrapbooking sketch @ shimelle.com

Boardwalk

this LO is about the wooden boards that are laid out on the beaches in the Netherlands to help you get through the dunes and across the sand. I took it as we walked back to our bikes, probably with the kids complaining about what I was doing while I was doing it.

The circles with the twine on are a technique I saw on the Studio challenges blog. I punched out some circles, covered them with double sided tape and then spiralled the twine onto them.

I made this LO for the sketch over at Shimelle's site. The secondary challenge was to use a favourite patterned paper. I have three all time favourite types of paper. 1. Polka dots  2 . Wood grain 3. Ledger paper. Clearly for this one I chose the wood grain option but I think I shall make another LO using polka dots too.

You make my heart sing

The challenge at Child's Play is a board game this week. I don't think you'll get which game from my LO as I found it a bit difficult to interpret it. The game is Operation, one that we loved as kids , ours came from a jumble sale so it had a bone or two missing but I think everyone's does anyway.

I chose to use the colours of red and yellow from the game and a reference to the game with the word heart in the title.

toes in the water

This is my latest design team work for Scrap it with a song. It was a perfect song for a summer LO,  the opening lines are "i got my toes in the water, ass on the sand"  I chose the first part as my title and the second part is shown in the second photo. The pictures are from our May holiday on the beach by the Delta Works

Nancy on the Beach

I am on a bit of a mission ( but only slightly) to use up some old stash. This LO has on it some chipboard circles that were amongst the first scrap booking supplies I bought. I was almost going to throw them away but I decided to revisit a LO I made a long time back and string the circles together. I also used up some leaves that were lurking about on my desk. The LO has no title because the Photo itself has Nancy's name written in the sand.

using supplies volume 2 #7

An idea completely stolen from Paige Evans. I love her style and her use of multiple papers on a LO. For this one I used 2 inch squares as a border. The two photos are from our May holiday hence the title but also the first picture, with May on it, is May blossom. In our week long holiday we had a barbecue every evening. It had to be thrown away after the week but it has served us very well.

1948 Olympics

I made this LO for the latest challenge at White With One. The challenge this month is white with navy and arrows. When I started looking I couldn't find much Navy paper so I decided to use strips of the scraps that I did have. I made the rosette using an idea I saw on Shimelle's blog. I also used some ribbon, washi tape and a strip of sparkle using double sided tape and some AC glitter.

The photo is from Wembley Stadium and shows Arthur standing in front of one of the Olympic flags from the 1948 Olympics.

How Sweet

I made this LO for the challenge at Scrap the Girls. The challenge is to use the song How Sweet It Is . It was quite a quick LO. A strip of paper and some stamps are the main features.

using supplies volume 2 #4

I love using large photos but they never print well at home so when I had an offer for half price enlargements i had a few done. this is Nancy looking a little grumpy. i tried to reflect the colours of the photo with the papers.

using supplies volume 2 #3

a very simple LO for mu using supplies challenge- in fact now I see it on screen I think I need to add some other colour to it.

So I did and this is what it looks like now

British Museum

I made this LO for the latest challenge at Dutch Dares. I started following this site when I lived in the Netherlands and I still like to have a go at their challenges when I can. The latest challenge is to use just one colour on the LO ( with touches of black and white if you want)

My LO has a photo of the glass roof of the British Musem. The museum is my absolute favourite to visit when I go to London.

There's a spark in you

if you are eagle eyed you may have noticed that tihs is very much like the LO earlier in the week- Tyre Swing- I was in a massive hurry to get three LOS done for design team work so I cheated and made two that were the same design but with different papers.

the LO is for the challenge at Scrap it With a Song- its the 4th of July so we heve the perfect 4th of July Song for you- Firework by Katy Perry.
i chose the line "there's a spark in you" and paper that was a  little bit fireworky - i layered it up with a few punched cirles that were in a bowl on my desk left over from a border punch I have.

here is the embellishment cluster and you can kind of see the little raised circles

Ideal Home

this LO is for the latest From Screen to Scrap challenge- the poster this month is The Fairy
the challenge is to keep it mainly blue with a white title and some clouds

again I went with a LO design that I have already made this week- you will have to wait a while to see that though as it is not scheduled yet.
i stamped some clouds and then layered over those more clouds stamped onto patterned paper.

the photo is Arthur's ideal home- he drew our house but changed its position so it would be directly opposite school- very easy in the morning and next to McDonalds, just down the road would be a Toys R US and there would be a tree.

Tyre Swing

the latest Child@s Play challenge is tyre swing- to adapt in any way you may want- I went literal and used a picture of my three on a row of tyre swings while we were on holiday in Belgium last year. Below is the little cluster of embellishments from the botttom of the LO.

rolling dice

well I am a fool sometimes- i was sure I had not made a LO for the Scrap it with a Song Design team challenge this time- Emile Sande- next to me- so I rushed last minute to make this. only to find, when the post appeared that i had made one months ago!
this LO uses the lyric "rolling dice" and I used a picture of a family Monopoly evening.
